I got nothin'. Busy day that ended with working the Christmas Show. I drew a portrait of the vendor across the aisle for my daily art, but I lost it...

A couple of nights ago I had a dream it was snowing octopuses. They looked like they were made out of little plastic bags, like the kind you put sandwiches in. They were floating down from the sky peacefully along with regular snowflakes. In my dream, I didn't think this was strange at all. I remember saying, "I love it when it snows octopuses!"

I wasn't crazy about the way this turned out, but it's what I did today so I'm posting it anyway. I got this idea while hiking off the Blue Ridge Parkway. There were hordes of people everywhere, it was the busy Fall foliage season. All of the hiking trails seemed so structured and I didn't feel like I was in nature, but rather looking at it from all of the assigned viewing areas, kind of like being at the zoo. This leaf skeleton on a handmade paper backing enclosed in wire mesh and cocooned in white tissue paper is my interpretation of that feeling.

Day 1

November 1 is here. It crept up on me! Today I needed to make a quick birthday present for a friend. I haven't made a crepe paper flower since, well, I don't know when. It was so much fun! Not fine art, I know, but I'm approaching this one month project without any limitations. If I have to make it serious, I'll never do it. So here is my post for day 1.

I have committed to making one piece of art everyday for the month of November. I created this blog to post this project in the hopes it will help me from getting lazy and failing to follow through.
